
Troubleshoot A Gas Oven
Problem: Gas oven will not heat up

Goal: Troubleshoot to confirm problem, then repair. See steps below.

Safety:
- As always, use appropriate care and caution.
- Ensure gas supply is turned off
Tools and Supplies:
- Replacement Igniter
- Needle-nose Pliers
- Screwdrivers
- Flashlight
- Small wrenches and/or socket set
Troubleshooting:
- Confirm that gas is supplied to the oven by turning on burner and broiler
- Find gas supply line (start by removing bottom drawer or panel if there is one on your oven)
- Figure out where gas is being supplied and where it is not supplied
- Confirm that gas regulator safety switch is not turned off
- Check that igniter is functioning properly
- Find wires for igniter and access igniter at bottom of oven
- Turn on oven to see if igniter lights. If it doesn’t ignite, the issue is narrowed down to the igniter
- Check wires to ensure they are secure and not damaged
- Once the problem igniter is identified, it can be replaced
